Pilsen Community Academy is a transitional bilingual Level 1 Chicago Public School serving the Pilsen community from pre-K through 8th grade.

Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where children come first. We provide our students with the necessary support, resources, and professional development to enhance teaching strategies that encompass the Chicago Reading and Mathematics Initiatives and technology.

We believe that all children can learn and should come first. We believe that all students must be given the opportunity to achieve to their fullest potential to become productive citizens in an ever changing multicultural and technological world.

Our History

Pilsen Community Academy was established in 1898 as Jirka School, named in honor of the founder Frank J. Jirka for his commitment to advocating for education in the community. The school was renamed in the 1980’s to celebrate the school's heritage as an integral part of the Pilsen community.
