Physical Education

Mary Sanders

Welcome to a new school year at Pilsen Academy! This is my second year here at Pilsen and I am truly honored in having the opportunity to be the Physical Education teacher here. In 2012, I graduated from Concordia University of Chicago with my teaching degree and I plan on returning to receive my masters from there in the near future. I am an avid runner and have completed the Chicago Marathon along with numerous half marathons. I spend as much time as I can outdoors and enjoy participating in extreme sports such as surfing and snowboarding. I take my health and wellness very serious and plan on instilling that passion in my students. I look forward to an amazing school year. Ms. Sanders

Chicago Hockey Initiative

We are honored to have two Pilsen Academy students, Michael & Adrian Lugo receive a micro-grant from the Chicago Hockey Initiative. The Chicago Hockey Initiative provides micro-grants to deserving individuals to help grow the game of hockey by providing direct financial assistance to under-resourced Chicago-area youth hockey players. CHILL Chicago

We were lucky enough to have six students participate in the CHILL Chicago program this past winter.

Chill's core youth development program revolves around a six- week curriculum that uses snowboarding to teach life skills and increase self-esteem in youth. So each week these six students rode out to the Grand Geneva Ski Resort in Wisconsin to go snowboarding.
